Two local children legally joined their forever families at the Putnam Adoption Day celebration hosted by Community Partnership for Children (CPC) during National Adoption Month. Watch our video of the event to see the joy that adoption brings to children from the foster care system who need a forever family:
Putnam Adoption Day took place at the Putnam County Courthouse during National Adoption Month, and Circuit Judge Rose Marie K. Preddy presided. One child was adopted by a long-term CPC foster parent, and the other by a relative.
Youth enter foster care through no fault of their own, but because they have experienced trauma. Reunification with their biological family is always the priority of CPC and our partners. But if reunification proves impossible, the court can terminate the biological family’s parental rights, making the child eligible for adoption.
More foster and adoptive parents are needed in our community, and CPC asks area residents to consider opening their hearts and homes to a local child.
“There is an urgent need for more foster and adoptive parents to care for our wonderful children, teens, and groups of siblings,” CPC CEO Karin Flositz said. “You can make a difference for a lifetime.”
