Research shows that reunification and permanency are expedited and more successful when positive co-parenting occurs during the case. The Comfort Calls Initiative is being implemented to create a culture in our system of care where all involved in the child(ren)’s lives support the building of relationships between caregivers, birth parents, and child welfare professionals in order to reduce trauma, encourage co-parenting, and achieve successful outcomes for the child(ren) we serve.

Shortly after a child arrives at a new placement, a telephone call will be facilitated between the caregiver and the child’s birth/legal parent(s).  These calls are meant to be a helpful tool for all parties to connect and share important information pertaining to the child and the child’s care, and to establish trust early in the case.
