A Quick Overview of the Foster Parent Licensing Process

The first step in this process is to take the Foster Parent Preparation Training class.

The next step is to work with your selected Licensing Agency to complete an in-depth family assessment. This assessment will include:

  • Home Safety Inspection
  • Background screens on all household members ages twelve and older
  • Employment, school and personal reference checks
  • Willingness to work in partnership and support the goal of reunification

Upon successful completion of these steps, you will be issued a foster care license through the State of Florida. You are now ready to make a life-changing impact on the children and families in our community!
