How The System Works
Community Partnership for Children is
called upon by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to care
for children who have been abused or neglected. Once Community
Partnership for Children officially accepts a case, a Case Manager
is assigned to the child. A comprehensive Case Plan is created to
help mend the abusive situation.
The goal of the Case Plan is always to
reunify a family within 12 months. After 12 months, either the
child must be reunited or the goal must be changed.
The change of goal
may lead to:
-
permanent
guardianship to a relative
-
adoption, which
requires termination of parental rights (TPR)
-
other approved
living arrangement (if the child is old enough and does not wish
to be adopted) which may include long term foster care or
independent living
