The first step in this process is to take the foster parent training class called Passport to Parenting. This class is required by the State to become a foster parent. If you are a couple, both prospective foster parents must take the course together.
After completion of the Passport to Parenting class, you will also need the following which will be coordinated by your selected provider:
Once the process is completed you will be issued a foster care license by the State of Florida. The agency you chose to affiliate with will be your support system. One of their employees will visit you monthly, as well as our case managers who will visit the child in your home monthly.
Again, thank you for your interest in becoming a foster home for children in our community who are in need of your help. We look forward to working with you in the future!
